Yearly Dental and Vision Screening: Friday, October 4
All students will receive an oral/dental screening from Lane County Dental Prevention Program and a vision SPOT check from the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation. If you have a student that wears glasses or contacts, please have them bring to school and wear during the screening. In the week or two following the screening, a white ½ sheet of paper will come home in the homework folder indicating the results of the screening.

If your student has regular dental and/or vision check-ups and you would like to opt out of the dental, vision, or both screenings, please email the nurse, Jenny Downes, RN at
downes_j@4j.lane.edu with subject line OPT OUT. Please include your students full name in the message along with which screenings you are opting out of and the dates of the most recent dental/vision care. OPT OUT messages must be received by Monday, September 30th.

PARENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
Charlemagne's Annual Vision and Dental Screening
Friday, October 4, 2024 9:00am-11:30am
We need 2-4 parent volunteers to support students while waiting in line and help with the flow through the screening.
If you are interested in volunteering, please email Nurse Jenny at downes_j@4j.lane.edu

Walk and Roll to School
Walk and Roll to School Day, October 9
Join us for Walk and Roll to School Day!
We want as many students as possible to use active transportation like walking, biking, scooting, skating as well as shared transportation like carpooling and the bus.

Active transportation is good for your student's health and their ability to learn, while everything we do to reduce the number of families driving alone to school is great for safety in our parking lot and the health of our planet. Even if you must drive, we encourage you to “park and stride” to school from a few blocks away.

Every student will be entered into a raffle for prizes including a water bottle and a scooter!

Volunteer Training on Zoom
Due to continued demand, we will have another volunteer training on Tuesday, October 1 at 9 a.m. on Zoom (click here for link). This will be the last training until January, so we hope to see you there.

OBOB
OBOB 2024-25
Got OBOB Love? Have the time to volunteer? We have the position for you...OBOB Parent Lead. The OBOB parent Lead helps to collect permission slips, forms teams, prints OBOB content (here at school), oversees in-school battles, update brackets, attends regional battles with the winning school team and possibly state.

Does this person do it alone? I'm glad you asked. No. Ginger Topize (OBOB Teacher Lead) guides next steps. The Parent Lead guides a team of parent volunteers who help with all these tasks. The lead manages the team in making sure it all gets done within the guidelines and within the schedule.

If you feel up for volunteering for OBOB as the Lead or as a Team Member, please email Ginger Topize at topize_g@4j.lane.edu to express your interest.
