Week of May 4-8

Mardi Gras

Bonjour Charlemagne Families!

A huge thank you to our incredible PTO for organizing such a fabulous Soirée! We are so grateful for your tireless efforts in fundraising and community building. This event serves as a vital springboard for our Staff Appreciation initiatives, perfectly timed as we look forward to celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week starting next week!

Your dedication truly makes Charlemagne a special place for our students and families to thrive.

Grade Level Blogs

Tour du Monde is Wednesday, May 13. Sign up for volunteer opportunities.

Summer is on its way--which means it's time again for our annual Tour du Monde (Jog-a-thon)! These funds support the ASB and pay for grade-level field trips, class supplies, and school-wide events. 100% of the profits will go towards supporting Charlemagne students!

Envelopes will be distributed this Friday.

During the next few weeks, students and parents may approach neighbors, friends, businesses, and family asking them to support Charlemagne's Tour du Monde. There are three ways to pledge:
1. A specific dollar amount per lap. We will be running on the
newly resurfaced track, which is about 200 meters
2. A lump sum
3. Online--just scan the QR code on the back of your student's envelope.

If you are interested in volunteering please check out the options here. Remember, all volunteers need to have attended the volunteer orientation and have completed the 4J Background check!

Summer camp sign ups are right around the corner: some signups even started last weekend! The PTO has compiled a list of many summer camps, organized by theme, including price and hours.

And of course be sure to check out all the other things going on with our community!!

Learn to Ride a Bike

Learn to Ride a Bike

Learn to Ride a Bike - A Free, All Ages, Drop-In Event For Not-Yet-Riders!
Thursday, May 7, 2026, 4:30-6:30 pm4J Education Center, 200 North Monroe St, Eugene
Do you or your child want to learn how to ride a bike? Join 4J, Bethel, and Springfield Safe Routes to School programs, the City of Eugene, the City of Springfield, Shift Community Cycles and Cascadia Mobility for this fun event with bike checks, free helmets and information about bike share.

We’ll start with balancing and gliding without pedals or training wheels. Some will learn to pedal in one session, while others may need more practice to reach that final goal. You don’t need your own bike to participate, but please bring a helmet and bike if you have one.

Contact Safe Routes to School at mazze_s@4j.lane.edu or albee_b@4j.lane.edu with questions or to volunteer.

Pedal the Parks

Pedal the Parks

May 9, 2026 (Time depends upon which park you choose to start. See flyer)
Join a fun, family-friendly bike ride exploring parks and playgrounds all across Eugene. The route is just over 8 miles total but you don’t have to ride the whole thing. Families can start and finish at any park or along the way.
Ride a little or ride it all! Grab your bike, bring your family and friends, and discover Eugene’s parks one pedal at a time.
For more information contact Brad Albee at albee_b@4j.lane.edu or Christina Lundahl at christina.lundahl@springfield.k12.or.us.
