We are pleased to announce that the fencing and gates at Charlemagne Elementary are now fully operational. To maximize the security of our campus, we have updated our student movement protocols to reflect this change.
Moving forward, students will remain within the school building or within the secure perimeters of our fully gated playground area during the school day. This adds an important layer of protection and ensures a more controlled environment for our children to play and learn.
How You Can Help We kindly ask our community members, volunteers and visitors to partner with us in keeping our campus secure. If you are on school grounds, please ensure that: - All gates are firmly closed and locked immediately after you pass through them.
- You continue to check in at the main office before entering the gated areas.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our Charlemagne community safe! |
A friendly reminder to all families and staff to prioritize safety during drop-off and pick-up. We have received concerns regarding high speeds on Kincaid Street and drivers turning without looking at the intersection of 39th and East Amazon.
Please help us protect our students by: - Slowing down on Kincaid Street.
- Pausing and checking twice for pedestrians and cyclists at the 39th St./Kincaid Park junction.
- Staying off devices and remaining alert in school zones.
Thanks for helping us work together to keep our students and families safe. |

Please join us for an evening inspired by a 1920s New Orleans speakeasy, filled with great food, lively music, and fun fundraising activities. It’s our most impactful fundraising event of the year!
Saturday, May 2, 2026 6:00 PM Ford Alumni Center — University of Oregon The soirée funds essential school programs that support our students and teachers, including teacher and staff appreciation, artists in residence, classroom support specialists, campus improvements, library services, the French intern program, and social and emotional learning supports.
This year, we especially need your help to ensure we meet our fundraising goal and there are many ways to contribute!
We are incredibly grateful to our early bird sponsors for their generosity and support: Eugene Dental Group, Elle McLean – Bailey & Heisey Real Estate, Summit Bank, Cascade Kids Dental, Hershner Hunter, Albee’s NY Gyros, and Serenity Suites.

As we step into the new year, my primary focus is empowering students to understand the "why" behind their feelings. Throughout this month, we will explore the inner workings of the mind and heart through these core pillars: - The Brain Tree: A visual metaphor helping students understand the different parts of their brain—from the "roots" of basic safety to the "branches" of complex thinking.
- The Power of Connection: We will examine the social threads that bind us, teaching students how healthy relationships act as a safety net for learning.
- Reframing "Healthy Stress": Not all stress is bad! Students will learn how "positive stress" can motivate us to grow, and how to tell when it becomes "too much."
- Emotional Navigation: We are equipping students with a toolkit for mindfulness. This includes strategies for "getting unstuck" from overwhelming emotions and learning the art of co-regulation—understanding how to seek and give support when feelings get big.
At-Home Connection Activities: - Create a "Calm Corner": Talk about what helps you feel better when your emotions feel "big." Together, find a dedicated spot in the house and fill it with things like soft pillows, fidget toys, or books to create a safe space for regulation.
- Memory Storytelling: Take turns sharing a favorite memory. Describe not just what happened, but exactly how it made you feel (happy, proud, peaceful) to help build emotional vocabulary.
- Five-Senses Nature Walk: Head outside for a "Sensory Walk." Pick one sense—like hearing—and see how many different sounds you can identify. This helps everyone stay present and grounded.
- Add: The "High/Low" Dinner Ritual: At the end of the day, have everyone share one "high" point (a win) and one "low" point (a challenge). This normalizes talking about the ups and downs of life.

...and for being part of what makes Charlemagne a great place to learn and grow.
