Lost and Found

The clothes pile up!

Please take some time to search through the clothes left on the fence outside the main doors.

We will donate any leftover items on November 21 as part of our Winter Warmth Drive donations this year.

Please consider labeling ALL items that come to school. It helps to ensure we can find their owners before we donate them.
Winter Warmth Drive

Winter Warmth Dirve

Monday starts our month-long winter warmth drive. Please consider donating any used warm clothing: coats, pants, glove, hats, scarves that you may have. New wool socks are always needed.

On November 21 our 5th grade team will gather all donations and prepare them fo be picked up. Any leftover clothing in the lost and found will also be sent along.

Your donations make a huge difference to those in need as the weather gets colder and wetter.

Thank you!

Building Updates

We are excited to announce that the district plans to begin construction on our covered play area this spring, with completion slated for the beginning of school in the fall.

Ruby Bridge

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day--November 14

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day is on Friday, November 14th. This event is about honoring Ruby’s courage and promoting anti-racism, kindness, and unity.

Mme. Poppy and Charlemagne staff will be leading the walk from Albertsons on 30th and Hilyard, however, children must have a supervising parent/caregiver. Please consider coordinating with families to give as many students as possible the chance to participate!  Below is a spreadsheet that was sent out by PTO reps to help connect families.

This week in school, with Mme Rachel, all grades participated in a lesson around Ruby Bridges. They read a story on Ruby Bridges and then tried to put themselves in her shoes. Students discussed the following questions:

  1. f you could choose one of Ruby’s character traits for yourself, what would you choose and why?
  2. If you were Ruby, would you have continued to go to school or would you have stayed home where you were safe?
  3. If there was a child who was different from everyone else and wasn’t allowed in our school because of that difference, would you do anything to help that child? Why or why not?

We will meet at 7:30 a.m. at Albertson’s (3075 Hilyard St.) We will leave promptly at 7:45am with an ETA of 8 a.m. at Charlemagne. Our route will be Hilyard to East Amazon and then up 39th Street to the school. All families are welcome to join us, but please, no scooters or bikes--walking only. Wear purple!
