From your PTO Co-Chairs
We are celebrating all of our wonderful teachers this week! We have several wonderful things scheduled to show our teachers how much we appreciate them. Don’t forget to bring your flower for your teacher on Tuesday morning. We will have volunteers outside the classrooms to collect the flowers so please bring to class with you and not to the office. We will be having a luncheon for teachers and all staff on Thursday. If you have something you would like to bring, please either sign up through this link or just drop off on Thursday morning. Thank you for making our teachers feel so special.
Wednesday May 4 is National Walk-Bike to school day. If you are able to, plan to walk, bike, take the bus or carpool. Look for a station setup out front of school and stop by to get your sticker and some special treats.
There still are a couple of Charlemagne Experiences available. Come watch a Movie Under The Stars or The Naked Lady Party. Please see information below about signing up for these experiences.

We have one last fundraiser for the year, Trot de France (jog a thon), coming up on June 3. We need to have 2 parent volunteers from each class for punching holes in cards and other minor things. We also need 15 or so people to help with setup and cleanup. If you are able to help with this, please email Alyssa Wagner (email@example.com). If you have any 5-gallon water containers for the water station that we can borrow, please let Alyssa Wagner know. We are hoping to get about 3 of these to help make the water station run smoother.

Wednesday, May 4 is National Walk-Bike to School Day
On Wednesday, walk, bike or take the bus with your kids, or arrange a carpool for the day.
When your kids arrive, they can pick up a sticker and fill out a raffle ticket to try and win a bike safety vest.
Wednesday afternoon, we’ll have a bike-blender station set up in front of the school to celebrate the day and bike-blended smoothies for kids try samples of!

Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-6
Here are ways to participate this week:
- Have your child prepare a handwritten card or drawing for their teacher or write one yourself
- Have your child bring in a flower from your garden (or the store) on Tuesdayfor their teachers’ merci bouquet
- Bring a food or drink donation on one of the other days this week
Here’s how we plan to celebrate them each day:
- Monday – breakfast
- Tuesday – merci flower bouquets
- Wednesday – chocolates
- Thursday – all staff luncheon
We will be recognizing the hard work by the classroom teachers as well as the Amity interns, music and PE teachers, and speech specialists.

Sign up for our Talent Show
Sign up sheets for the Spring 2016 Talent Show (aka Spectacle de Jeunes Talents) are now available in the office and are due by Friday, May 13. The talent show will be held in the school gym on Wednesday, May 25 from 6-7:45 pm.
Singers, dancers, jugglers, actors, gymnasts, comedians, magicians, musicians, martial artists, and performers of all types are invited to showcase their talents in a solo or ensemble act.
All solo acts should be under two minutes and group acts must be under three minutes.
To allow as many students to be included while keeping the length of the show reasonable, students will be limited to one solo act but they are allowed to be in several ensemble acts.
Dress rehearsals are on May 18 and 19 during recess/lunch and after school on May 19. Performers must attend one of the rehearsals to be guaranteed a place in the show.
Parent volunteers are needed for every aspect of the show including: co-producer, rehearsal assistants, ushers, stagehands, sound engineers, set up and clean up crew and program creation. Please sign up here to lend a hand.

The South Eugene Basketball Camp provides instruction of all basketball fundamentals to children age 5-15. The camp is directed by the head coach of the South Eugene Boy’s Basketball program, Dave Hancock. Coach Hancock just completed his 15th year as the head coach of the South Eugene Boys Basketball program and his 34th year of coaching basketball.
Location: South Eugene High School main and small gyms
Cost: $75/child, 2 or more children from the same family $60/child. A two-color reversible basketball top is included.
