Eugene Marathon – French Quarter Cheering Section Apr. 29th 8:30 – 11:30!!!
“Allez-y! Allez-y!” That’s what Eugene Marathon runners will be hearing as they enter the ultimate cheer zone- the French Quarter! They will be cheered on and energized by the French Immersion K-12 programs of Eugene. We will line both sides of the Owosso Footbridge at mile 21 and cheer runners/walkers on in their best French accent as they cross the bridge and make the turn for the final 5 mile stretch back towards Hayward Field. Students of all ages (and their friends and family) from Charlemagne French Immersion, Roosevelt Middle School and the International High School at South Eugene are ready to immerse runners in a quarter-mile of French revelry. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
Our goal is to have over 100 French Immersion students with their friends and family members waving, clapping, cheering, singing, drumming at what many runners believe to be the most challenging section of the marathon course. We will transform the Owosso bridge into our very own “French Quarter.” At the conclusion of the marathon, runners will vote for their favorite “Cheer Zone” along the course. The winning “Cheer Zone” wins a $300.00 cash prize. More info to come…..
The daffodils are blooming around the garden and I can’t wait for Tuesday!
