Principal’s Corner

Dear Charlemagne families,

In addition to the district’s promise for safe water from our school water fountains, I have decided to purchase a filtered water bottle fill station for the front hall next to the cafeteria. Over the past three years the number of student water bottles has grown dramatically. I hope this will help ease concerns and provide the opportunity for students who need a water bottle refill mid-day. The new station will be installed on October 14thand is also a drinking fountain.

Please remember these back to school safety tips for driving to and from school.

  • Watch for children walking or riding bikes to school in the morning and from school in the afternoon. They may be inattentive and excited, or they may be learning a new route, so be prepared and on the lookout.• Remember speeds around school zones: 20 mph max.

    • Stop and stay stopped for people in crosswalks (and keep an eye out for those who mistakenly cross streets at other spots).

    • Avoid distractions. It is illegal to use a handheld mobile device while driving in Oregon.

    • Follow our school parking lot circulation plans; these help provide safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Please join our staff commitment to an incident free year.

Fall is in the Air

Dear Families,

I hope you are enjoying the wonderful Fall weather! We are hitting our back-to-school stride this week with Curriculum Night tomorrow. Grades K-2 will meet in their classrooms from 6:00-6:40. All parents will meet from 6:45 – 7:15 in the gym, and then grades 3-5 will meet in their classrooms from 7:20 – 8:00. We hope to see you there! And don’t forget our first PTO meeting on Sept. 27.

Both of these events are for adults only, however childcare is available at no cost. Miss V will be taking care of any children out of diapers.

Also, Bernadette will be available so you can pay fees or talk to her about financial assistance.

Do you have something you want to share on eNews? Please submit your ideas to Shannon or Chris by Tuesday of each week for inclusion in the following Monday’s eNews.
