Principal’s Corner

Dear Parents,

principals cornerThis Friday is our Annual Auction Soiree! This is our largest fundraiser and is a fantastic opportunity to engage, socialize and have fun with staff and friends.

We know that educational outcomes improve with the quantity and quality of individuals working with our children. Due to the budget constraints of the district, we only receive funding for four educational assistants. Our educational assistants are critical in providing small group differentiated instruction as well as recess supervision.

Therefore, our year-long $100,000 fundraising effort specifically targets academic support and school safety. Your dollars will increase our support by two educational assistants and four amity interns.

What does this mean for your child?

  • Without parent fundraising support: Each teacher will receive on average35 minutes of instructional support during the day. Recess will have only 2 adults on the playground.
  • With parent fundraising support: Each teacher will receive on average3.75 hours of instructional support during the day. This also increases our recess supervision to 4 adults.

Please help improve classroom instruction and increase safety for our children.

From your PTO Co-Chairs

Bonjour Families,

The Charlemagne 2016 Soiree is this Friday, April 15! This is an adult only event at Venue 252 but childcare will be available at Bounce which is just across the street. There will be an auction to raise money to help with our staffing for next school year, but don’t let that stop you. Just by buying a ticket and coming for dinner you will help to support Charlemagne. You can go to the Charlemagne website to purchase tickets or, if you decide at the last minute, tickets will be available at the door. We hope to see you there!

The deadline has been extended for Site Council applications. The Site Council is a decision-making group composed of Principal Anderson and representatives for the teachers, parents, and classified staff. This is an elected position with a 2-year commitment. If you are interested in running for parent representative to site council, please click here to get the application, fill it out and return to the school office by April 12. Printed copies are also available in the office.

We are still looking to fill some key positions for PTO next year. Have you thought about wanting to get more involved in school fundraisers or events? If you want more information, please contact Gina or Shannon for details. Thank you for your consideration.

We hope you will join us for our PTO meeting next Tuesday, April 19. In addition to our regular items of business, we will also be holding elections for next years’ PTO officers and Site Council Representatives. If you are interested in running for any positions, please contact Gina or Shannon.

Please see information below about upcoming events and summer camps that are available.

We hope everyone has a wonderful week!
