Walk/Bike to School Wednesday, No School Friday

Dear Families,
WBTS_Logo

What a gorgeous fall we are enjoying. Perfect weather for walking or biking to school! And this Wednesday, October 8, 2014, is National Walk/Bike/Carpool/Bus to School Day. Please join in the fun and contact Char Heitman at heitman@uoregon.edu, or 541-514-5111 if you have any questions.

Books! Books! Yeah BOOKS!!! Please see the note below from JoAnn Hoffman about Charlemagne’s 2014 Book Fair!

Volunteering makes you feel so good

volunteersPlease come to the office and take a look at the new Volunteer Board on the west wall. It contains lists for the next 3 or 4 activities needing volunteer help, and a rack of badges for people who volunteer at least 3 times a month. Peruse the lists, pick your favorite, sign up, and then give yourself a big pat on the back!

If you volunteer at the school 3 or more time a month, and you don’t have a badge, please leave a note for Kathy Gregory. She’ll be thrilled to make you one. It’s nice to have a visual reminder of all the excellent help at our school.

Note: If you signed up for an activity at Curriculum night, your name will already be on the Volunteer Board lists. Please double check it, and confirm that you can indeed help. One ongoing need is help at morning recess and lunch/recess. There is a monthly sign up sheet for those 2 things. If you sign up for either of these, please see Eric about getting a brief training in how lunch and recess work at the school.

And if you have any questions about any of this, please e-mail Kathy Gregory at kathygregory@comcast.net.

ptoFinally, next week, Thursday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m. is our first PTO meeting. There will be childcare, snacks and an opportunity to impact our children’s education. We look forward to many of you joining us.

We hope everyone has a wonderful week and enjoys the day off school this Friday!

Activities this week are:

Wednesday

Red Kindergarten Class on Pumpkin Patch Field Trip with 3rd grade buddies

Thursday

Blue Kindergarten Class on Pumpkin Patch Field Trip with 3rd grade buddies
