Greetings Charlemagne Families,

Day Four and we’re humming along . . . students are settling into classroom routines and teachers are engaging them in inspiring curriculum. We’re also completing our Easy CBM testing, which establishes a baseline in math and reading. I’m so impressed by your students: bright, curious and ready to learn! Today we’ll celebrate with a Back-to-School Welcome Assembly, including a special Green School Merit Award of $500!

Curriculum Night

You will learn must-have details about your child’s classroom NEXT THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19. Here’s the schedule:

6:00-7:00Classrooms: Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade
7:00-7:30 ALL Parent Meeting in the Gym: Introductions and PTO Information
7:30-8:30  Classrooms: Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade

Principal Larry Soberman will be hosting the Curriculum Night, as I’m leaving for France tomorrow, Saturday. This trip was rescheduled from last May, so I’m looking forward to it. Larry has already been at school this week, so has met many of you. Just retired from Twin Oaks, he’s a French speaker and he loves our school!

Our fund raising will begin in full force next week, on Friday, September 20, with the Gift Wrap Sale Kickoff. Your students will return home next weekend with materials that extend an opportunity to friends and family to support Charlemagne. We do not ask students to go door to door unless it is a safe experience with a family member. As always, the Charlemagne Community works hard to support our program. The PTO raised well over $150,000 last year to make sure we have two teachers for each grade level; extra assistant time; and many other services.

Stay tuned for the Curriculum Night next week when our PTO Leadership will outline the year-long program.
Have a great weekend, and GO DUCKS
