Dear Charlemagne Families,
Mardi Gras a Huge Success!
A big shout out to all of the parent volunteers who helped make this years Mardi Gras such a huge success. Games, amazing prizes, great food and kids smiling and laughing faces made this years Mardi Gras a night to remember. When I think of the Charlemagne Community I think of Mardi Gras.
Dear Charlemagne Families! Thank you for a fun, happy event! I hope
everyone had a great time! I want to thank all the families who were
able to get donations in to make the raffle baskets so beautiful, as
well as the staff appreciation baskets! Thanks also go out to all the
parents who stepped up to volunteer with set up, decorating, baking,
clean up, and for working Mardi Gras itself! What a great community
event- it truly takes a village to put on Mardi Gras, and what a nice
way to get to meet new people and celebrate Charlemagne!
Empathy- Food For Lane County
Thank you to Esprit De Corp and all of the Charlemagne families who participated in this years “Food For Lane County” food drive. This year we made a concerted effort to “Empathize” with families in Eugene and Lane County who actually go to bed hungry.
Pull Forward Please!
It is amazing the difference it makes when drivers pull all way the forward in the “White” zone when dropping off and picking up students. It is a bit counter intuitive to pull all the way forward past the breezeway but it really helps with pick up and drop off. During pick up, please remind your children to look for your vehicle and transition quickly. Another carpool tip is to avoid traffic by dropping off between 8:10 – 8:20 a.m.
Charlemagne- An Inclusive Community
This Friday at 12:45, students and staff will gather together to reaffirm their commitment to “Empathy” and to introduce the concept of “Inclusion” as one of the 5 pillars of our community living plan. Parents and siblings are invited to attend the assembly.

The following ‘Southside Chess’ students and teams qualified for the CFS Finals, to be held at the Portland Convention Center March 15 & 16. Twelve of the fourteen individual qualifiers from Lane and Douglas counties and both teams are ‘Southside’ kids. Congratulations to all!
March is here, the days are getting warmer and longer and track season is just around the corner.
Life is good!
