Dear Charlemagne Families,

Car Pool Drop Off and Pick Up Area Extended – Green Zone
We have extended the drop off and pick up area. The extended drop off area will allow more cars to load and unload simpultaensly thus speeding up the drop off and pick up process. For the extended drop off area to work efficiently, especially during peak drop off and pick up times, it is important that drivers pull all the way to the end of the “Green Zone.” This will take a little getting used to but once we get in the habit of pulling all the way forward the drop off and pick up process will be quicker and less chaotic for all. It is also important that parents who park on the street and walk their child to class stay on the sidewalk and cross at the designated cross walks only.

Picture Day Oct 21st
Friday, Oct. 21 is Picture Day. All students will get their picture taken. Student’s who plan to purchase picture packets can order online at or bring a check on Oct. 21st. Your child should have already brought home a Picture Packet with all the necessary information. If you need more information go online to or call Heather.

Poinsettia & Holiday Wreath Sale Oct. 13 – 27
Our annual Poinsettia and Wreath sale is being expanded this year to benefit the whole school. Charlemagne is offering for sale beautiful holiday poinsettias and evergreen wreaths from Johnson Brothers’ Greenhouses in Coburg. Four varieties of poinsettias in three sizes are available. One size of wreath is available made of noble fir with incense cedar and juniper with berries. This is a great opportunity to raise money for our school. The poinsettias and wreaths are beautiful, and as many people buy these items over the holidays anyway, please take advantage of this sale.
Orders will be taken October 13th – 27th. Deliveries will be made to the school on Friday, December 2nd. Flyers with all the information and order forms will be sent home this week, be on the lookout.

Book Fair Volunteers Needed
The countdown has begun to launch our school to the Book Fair and Beyond!  We need volunteers to transform our Fair into an out-of-this-world reading experience, but we need your help to accomplish this mission. Join our volunteer team to:

Bring a creative flair to signs and decorations
Offer a helping hand, setting up or packing up
Help shoppers of all ages find the perfect book

The Book Fair runs from November 3 to 10.  There are daytime and evening shifts available.  We have work to do before and after the fair as well.

As a thank you to our volunteers, we are offering a $10 raffle for 10 of our volunteers. For every 2-hour shift you work, you will get a chance to win $10 to spend on Scholastic books at the Fair.

Parent/Teacher Conferences Nov. 9. 10
This year we will use our web based scheduling system to schedule Parent/Teacher Conference appointments. Parents will log into the system to  access their respective teacher’s schedule then reserve their own Parent/Teacher Conference appointment. The system worked well for us last year and we are pleased to offer the online scheduling system again this year. The online scheduling system will be open first to parents with more than one child at Charlemagne then to the all remaining families. Our goal is for parents to begin scheduling on Monday, Oct. 24. Parents will receive directions and more information later this week.
